The Naya Nagar police officers who arrested a 56-year-old on Wednesday for slicing up the body of his live-in partner described events that were something out of a horror movie. They discovered pieces of human flesh in hot water in a kitchen that was covered in blood when they went into the accused’s Mira Road flat. The suspect had been feeding the rotting corpses to stray dogs after boiling them in a pressure cooker. In an effort to avoid being arrested, the man stated that his partner had killed himself. The claims of the accused are being looked into by the police.
On Tuesday morning, a neighbour reported, “We got a strong scent and believed it might be a dead rat. We looked around the patio but couldn’t discover anything. By dusk, the odour had become so overpowering that we had to inspect the sewage pipes. The smell was terrible by Wednesday night, so I told the secretary. When we discovered that the door to the apartment where the scent was coming from was closed at 6.30 p.m., we immediately called the police.
The police came running to the scene. A neighbour recognised the suspect, who was just entering the building, as an officer was walking to the ground level to learn more about the residents of the flat. The bones were discovered in the kitchen of the 2BHK apartment when two police officers opened the door of his home. A large number of police officers, the DCP, and officials from the crime branch subsequently flocked to the scene when the constables alerted their superiors.
Claim of the Accused
The suspect was detained on June 8 and presented in court the following day. Until June 16, he was placed in police custody. He admitted to the police that he had been with the dead for 13 years and that they had shared a flat for five years throughout that time. They frequently fought, and his partner had doubts about him. She allegedly ingested poison and killed herself in his absence on Sunday after another fight, according to an officer.
The suspect informed the police that after discovering the corpse inside the bedroom, he became afraid and, out of fear of being apprehended, decided to dispose of the body. He started cutting the corpse after watching web series and learning about the Shraddha Walkar murder case. He divided the body’s flesh from the bone by first cutting it into three parts, according to an officer.
The accused began boiling the body parts in a pressure cooker and keeping them in hot water starting on June 4, according to an officer. He would throw them near the railway tracks late at night to dogs. The police apprehended him at the society gate on Wednesday night after he rode his bike to feed stray animals close to the railway tracks. The accused previously lived in the G block in the same society, but moved to this flat three years ago, the police said.
The deceased was found to have eaten poison, so the police removed all of their remains from the house and sent them to JJ hospital for an autopsy.
We don’t accept the story the accused told us in order to get out of being charged with murder, a top police official declared. Our hypothesis is that he fatally stabbed his flatmate before dismembering her body to get rid of the body’s evidence. Only 100 metres separate the society where the couple stayed from the train tracks that the accused visited. The woman used to accompany the couple on morning walks there, but ever since Sunday, no one has seen her.
