T.J. Holmes is divorcing his wife of 13 years after reports of an affair with “GMA3” co-anchor Amy Robach.
According to court papers acquired by USA TODAY, the 45-year-old ABC co-anchor filed for divorce from immigration attorney Marilee Fiebig in New York City on Wednesday.
USA TODAY has contacted out to Holmes’ representatives and attorneys.
Holmes and Fiebig, 45, married in March 2010 and have a daughter, Sabine, who is nine years old. The “GMA3” co-anchor also has two children from a previous marriage to Amy Ferson, Brianna and Jaiden.
What Happened?
The divorce suit comes after the purported affair between Holmes and Robach, 49, grabbed headlines last month when the Daily Mail revealed video and images indicating a love relationship between the two married anchors. In one photo, the two were holding hands. In another, Holmes pats Robach on the back.
ABC removes Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes from ‘GMA3’ responsibilities due to a rumoured affair ‘distraction.’
In 2010, Robach married “Melrose Place” actor Andrew Shue. In September, they placed their New York City apartment for sale. Robach has two children from her previous marriage to Tim McIntosh, despite the fact that the couple did not have children together.
ABC dropped Robach and Holmes from its afternoon newscast earlier this month, citing the charges as a “distraction.”
ABC News President Kim Godwin informed the editorial staff of her decision in a meeting on December 5.
“The connection between two of our employees has become an internal and external distraction,” Godwin stated, according to an employee on the call who was not allowed to reveal specifics publicly. “While the connection does not violate business standards, I have spent the last few days considering what is best for our firm. I’m going to remove Amy and T.J. off the air for the time being while we work this out.”
At the time, ABC declined to comment.
