Shark Tank India introduces Bhaskar KR. Whose incredible journey from waiting tables to building a Puranpoli empire worth billions of dollars.
What do you need to build a business of your own?
More than the technicalities and the business acumen. One needs a spirit to take risks and never give up to be an entrepreneur.
In the latest episode of Shark Tank India Season 2, entrepreneur Bhaskar KR proved the same. Both the sharks and the audience were left amazed to hear about Bhaskar’s extraordinary journey.
The Karnataka native now owns a multi-billion-dollar food industry in his home state and Maharashtra.
His brand, ‘Bhaskar’s Puranpoli Ghar,’ is well-known in both Karnataka and Maharastra, and he plans to expand it throughout the country.
When sharks questioned how he became so huge, he gave them a narrative of honesty and simplicity conveyed with confidence.

Bhaskar claimed that when he was younger, he began by serving tables and cleaning at a restaurant in Karnataka.
He subsequently worked at various odd jobs for almost eight years before deciding to create a roadside Puranpoli stand where he would cook Puranpoli himself. When his style grew famous, he gradually expanded and purchased a larger corner, which finally became a business.
Bhaskar’s Puranpoli Ghar started in Karnataka, and there was no turning back. He currently manages multiple franchisees of his business around the state and has a foothold in Maharashtra, where his brand is already a household name.
Bhaskar worked with Vittal Shetty and Saurabh Choudhary to expand his firm in Maharashtra, and on Shark Tank India Season 2, he requested for Rs 75 lakh in exchange for 1% equity.
The sharks refused to support him since he runs a fully operating and extremely lucrative firm on his own. Many sharks claimed that Bhaskar KR didn’t need any investment in such a great firm and was only there to sell his brand.
They did, however, commend him on his voyage. The sharks praised Bhaskar for his remarkable narrative and congratulated him for creating a fantastic example of perseverance.
