BSE and NSE Closed Today for Gurunanak Jayanti
In the previous session, Indian equity benchmarks declined, primarily influenced by technology and consumer goods stocks. The 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 48 points, closing at 65,970, a decrease of 0.07 percent. Simultaneously, the NSE Nifty index experienced a decline of 7 points, or 0.04 percent, ultimately concluding at 19,795.
On the positive side, mid and small-cap stocks performed well. The Nifty Midcap 100 increased by 0.06 percent, and the Nifty Smallcap 100 saw a 0.30 percent rise. The India VIX, a measure of fear, increased by 0.13% to a higher level of 11.33.
Among the NSE’s fifteen sectoral indices, five ended the day lower. Notably, Nifty Consumer Durables, FMCG, and IT Nifty all underperformed the index, falling by 0.47, 0.97, and 0.97 percent, respectively. Nifty Pharma increased by 0.87 percent, while Nifty Metal increased by 0.67 percent.

Stocks on the BSE experienced declines of up to 1.55 percent. This included HCL Tech, Wipro, TCS, Nestle India, Tech Mahindra, Tata Motors, Infosys, and IndusInd Bank.
Additionally, there were declines of as much as 6.57 percent. This affected CG Power, KPR Mill, Paytm, Manappuram Finance, Mahindra Finance, Indiabulls Real Estate, and Nippon Life India Asset Management.
On a positive note, there were gains of up to 20 percent. This benefited General Insurance Corporation of India, New India Assurance Company, Life Insurance Corporation of India, and Data Patterns (India). Out of the 3,814 stocks traded on the BSE that day, 1,948 ended lower. Additionally, 1,752 ended higher, with the remaining 114 stocks remaining unchanged.
The domestic bourses are expected to reopen on November 28.
