Newcastle United fans are celebrating a long-awaited victory after their team triumphed over Liverpool 2-1 in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley. This win marks the club’s first major domestic trophy since 1955 and their first title since lifting the Fairs Cup in 1969.
Thousands of passionate supporters traveled to London to witness the historic moment, while many more gathered in Newcastle’s city center to watch the match at a fan zone. The excitement was palpable, and as the final whistle blew, emotions ran high.
Jackie Gordon, a fan watching from the fan zone, expressed her joy, saying, “It’s absolutely brilliant they’re bringing it home.” Her friend, Tracy Smith, shared the excitement, calling it an “amazing day” and praising the team’s performance.

For lifelong supporters, the victory was particularly emotional. Gordon Rayner, who had journeyed to Wembley for the game, admitted he was in disbelief. “I’m 55, so I was born after their last trophy win. I’ve waited my entire life for this,” he said. Another fan, Graham, was overwhelmed, saying, “I never thought I’d see this day. After so many lost finals, it’s just incredible.”
The celebrations weren’t confined to Wembley. Back in Newcastle, pubs, homes, and streets erupted with cheers as fans embraced the long-awaited triumph. The Strawberry pub, a popular spot for supporters, was packed with jubilant crowds, and many took to the streets in celebration.

Newcastle captain Bruno Guimarães, visibly emotional after the victory, dedicated the win to the fans. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said, “I have no words. This is the best day of my life. For these supporters, it’s like winning the World Cup. Generations have grown up without seeing us lift a trophy—this moment is unbelievable.”
Former Newcastle captain Alan Shearer, who led the team in the 1999 FA Cup final, had expressed his nervous excitement before the match. He emphasized that no group of supporters deserved this moment more, praising their unwavering loyalty over the years.
From Wembley to the streets of Newcastle, the celebrations are in full swing, as fans soak in a moment they’ve waited decades to experience.
