It is observed that the United States is venturing to grab the World Cup quarter Final first time since back in 2002. Netherlands have reached the finals three times previously but have never won.
The match is going to be played at the Khalifa International Stadium in Al-Rayyan and will start at 3 pm GMT, 10 am ET, 7 am PT.
The squad of United States:
- Matt Turner
- Sergino Dear
- Walker Zimmerman
- Tyler Adams (captain)
- Antonee Robinsons
- Yunus Musah
- Weston McKennie
- Christian Pulisic
- Tim Ream
- Tum Weah
- Jesus Ferreira
The squad of Netherlands:
- Andries Noppert
- Daley Blind
- Nathan Ake
- Virgil van Dijk (Captain)
- Jurrien Timber
- Denzel Dumfries
- Marten De Roon
- Davy Klaassen
- Frenkie de Jong
- Cody Gakpo
- Memphis Depay
The versatility of Cody Gakpo has been underlined by this tournament. Cody Gakpo is known to be very flexible in his game. Keeping his height at the side, he can cause a lot of damage being a winger. Pulisic was injured while playing against Iran. Yet still he is featuring to play against Netherlands. Van Gaal had given a message at the start of the game that only Memphis Depay was good for only 45 minutes while playing.
At this moment the United States of America seems to have become two different teams on the ground. First half team is calm, suave, sauntering around the pouncing half in drilling triangles. Pulisic has been included in the game to play. However the striker Josh Sargent who was also injured hasn’t been recovered until yet and that’s why isn’t included in the game. Pulisic is announced to be fit as he only had a bruised pelvic.
Netherlands coach Louis Van Gaal has stated that they have a great team, and he said that he agrees that it’s one of the best teams he has ever had to play. Even if it’s a tough match they will overcome it.
USA’s coach Gregg Berhalter emphasised that it is a great opportunity for their team to play in, but he even said that it’s not something that he considers to be an honour as his team deserves to be in the position he is in.
