Netflix Has Finally Provided Wednesday Fans With The Newest Information Jenna Ortega takes on the lead role in Tim Burton’s much-loved Addams Family spin-off.
After captivating audiences around the globe, becoming Netflix’s third most-watched series ever and even landing at the centre of rumours it may be leaving the platform altogether, the streaming giant finally has an update about the future of Wednesday.
A brief video uploaded on the show’s official social media platforms on Friday evening indicated that the Addams Family spin-off would return for a new season in 2023.
“Over the past two weeks, I’ve been pursued, haunted, and duplicated millions of times over the internet,” lead actor Jenna Ortega was heard stating in character as Wednesday. It has been torturous. Thank you very much.”
“More agony is on the way,” the teaser said. Season two of the global sensation will be released.”
Wednesday immediately became one of the year’s most popular shows after its premiere in November 2022, amassing over one billion viewing hours in three weeks.
Jenna Ortega plays the Addams’ eldest kid, who ends herself at a new boarding school after being expelled for standing up for her brother.
Wednesday’s parents, Morticia and Gomez Adams, are played by Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán, respectively, while Christina Ricci, a former Addams Family Values actor, as a teacher at the Nevermore Academy.
Earlier this week, speculation broke out that Wednesday could be leaving Netflix in the future after Amazon officially acquired MGM, who own the rights to the Addams Family.
Fortunately, fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as the show will be apparently be staying put.
