On June 13 in the afternoon, ANI reported that Delhi and other areas of north India experienced earthquake shocks. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), an earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale happened 30 km southeast of Kishtwar in Jammu & Kashmir.
NCS posted on Twitter, “Earthquake of Magnitude:5.4, Occurred on 13-06-2023, 13:33:42 IST, Lat: 33.15 & Long: 75.82, Depth: 6 Km, Location: Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, India.”
On June 13, in the late afternoon, a 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck Doda in Jammu and Kashmir, causing some buildings to sustain damage and driving residents to flee their houses in fear in several areas of the Union Territory, according to officials.
The earthquakes were reported in nearby Pakistan as well as Delhi and other parts of north India.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that the earthquake was 60 km deep and that its epicentre was 99 km north of Pathankot in northern India.
“The earthquake frightened students. Shop patrons hurried out. It spooked me. This earthquake was more powerful than the shocks from last week, a Srinagar native informed ANI.
According to the NCS, an earthquake with a 3.9 magnitude occurred on June 9 in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The epicentre of the earthquake, which occurred at 10:23:57 IST, was at Lat: 35.64 and Long: 76.62. The earthquake struck the Indian area of Ladakh at a depth of 10 km.
