“Crew”, a movie starring Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Tabu, is releasing today i.e. 29 March 2024. The three of them are the main characters in the comic robbery. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon navigate the aviation and airline industry, struggling to navigate a web of lies and challenges. The movie depicts the sisterhood. It’s sincere and never comes across as forced.
The humor, the friendship, the arguments, and the reconciliation—that’s really how women work. Nidhi Mehra and Mehul Suri’s script is clear and maintains a constant pace throughout the whole movie.
Crew, directed by Rajesh A Krishnan, stars men who support women’s growth, but the sloppy screenplay dilutes their sparks. The film’s writing overpowers Krishnan’s impressive style, affecting his directorial instincts.
WHAT IS THE PLOT?
It centers on three Kohinoor Airlines employees. Focusing on senior flight attendant Jasmine Rana, junior flight attendant Divya Bajwa, and in-flight supervisor Geeta Sethi. The aviation sector serves as the backdrop for the story.
Geeta lives with her husband Arun, who operates a cloud kitchen after his brother’s separation. Jasmine dreams of becoming a wealthy CEO and lives with her maternal grandfather. Divya, a talented academic and pilot, works as an air hostess to avoid her parents’ broken heart. Despite her ambitions, she is sarcastic, street-savvy, and unafraid to violate morals.
Geeta, Jasmine, and Divya are three employees of an airline firm. They are struggling with bankruptcy and lack of salaries for six months. They were enticed to steal gold slabs from their boss, who unexpectedly passes away on the Airbus.
The protagonists discover that he and HR head Mittal plan to smuggle gold to Dubai for money. After a series of disagreements, they decide to work for Mittal to escape their financially mediocre lifestyles. However, sub-inspector Mala discovers something suspicious.
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT CREW: CHARACTER, CAST, DIRECTOR
“Crew” is a stunning film with stunning performances by Tabu, Kareena, and Kriti. Along With co-producers Rhea Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor. The film portrays women as ambitious, unapologetic beings, celebrating sisterhood without promoting modern-day feminism.
Kareena’s portrayal of Jasmine in the film elevates the narrative, showcasing her fierceness, enterprisingness, and unyielding nature. Her return to a glamorous role and her feisty charisma make her an essential part of the movie. Thus, making her a must-watch.
Tabu’s performance with Geeta is impressive, with her scenes with Jasmine and their Friendship. Her chemistry with Kapil is endearing, and her stillness and natural emotionality add to the film’s appeal.
Kriti’s cinematic backstory is explored, but Divya’s layers aren’t explored. Rajesh Sharma and Trupti Khamkar are impressive. While Saswata Chatterjee is wasted as a prototype of Vijay Mallya, Vijay Walia, who owns Kohinoor Airlines. Furthermore, Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma will also be seen in the movie.
REVIEWS AND REACTION
The movie “Crew” has a unique idea and might be an innovative film. However, the writing has a lot of gaps. The unhurried and slow-moving story makes viewers feel as though they are trapped in a monorail. The movie’s optimistic beginning is swiftly dashed. The film, featuring talented actors Tabu and Kareena Kapoor Khan, is borderline threadbare. The film’s rather worn-out quality breaks viewers’ hearts.
The heist-themed comedy Crew contains some unique situations, but it isn’t that funny. By the second part of the narrative, the majority of humor is lost on the audience. Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma, known for their comic timing, are wasted in this film. Whereas, Tabu’s Geeta gets some amusing one-liners and regional slang, but it doesn’t make you laugh that much. Furthermore, the song is unmemorable. The crew is an unsatisfactory heist comedy all around.
Nishit Shaw, a movie critic and trade analyst, criticized the film “Crew” for missing an opportunity. This was due to a rushed second half. The film features talented actors like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon, and Tabu, but the writing is lacking. The first half is ordinary but relatable, funny, emotional, and entertaining. The second half is chaotic and lacks convincing events. The BGM is enjoyable, the songs are fun, and the ladies are fantastic. The film is decent one-time watch, but the abrupt ending is disappointing.
On the other hand, A netizen praised the film Crew. It was for its outstanding entertainer, crisp music, and comic element. Also, for electrifying performances by Kareena Kapoor Khan and Tabu, dialogue, and direction. Although, critics praised the film’s fire performance by Kriti Sanon, recommending it highly.
