An Action Hero a film by Anirudh Iyer-a debutant, has failed to gloss a sunshine reviews to smashing box office numbers.
There is a state of being, and filmmaker Anirudh Iyer can be found there, beyond the happiness of having a well-received debut movie and the pain of its puzzling box office performance. Ayushmann Khurrana and Jaideep Ahlawat star in An Action Hero, a feature film directed by Anirudh after years of working as Aanand L Rai’s assistant.
The movie, a gloriously absurd action thriller that received high praise upon release on December 2, failed to generate any excitement at the box office. Anirudh is baffled by the response at the box office and is unsure of what went wrong. “The movie will endure, even if people don’t recall the box office for a while.”
In one of the Interviews : Anirudh was Asked.
What emotions did the reception evoke in you? Numerous excellent reviews greeted the movie’s debut.
It’s unique and overpowering. I didn’t anticipate much, but I also didn’t expect such a poor box office performance. This is a little tough to comprehend. I’m not sure what to make of it. You have an epiphany, you produce a film, and then others point out things that didn’t work, and you figure out why. You learn from it and move to the next one, knowing what you will and will not do.
My issue here is that I can’t locate a solution. Everybody who has spoken to me has said that the film is flawless because there is nothing they would alter about it. I’m not sure how the film’s figures translate into finding closure. That’s the state of mind I’m in right now. What can I do to improve myself, what can I do to…. I’m not exactly sure what went wrong, but the critiques have been fantastic. I’m in a bind; I’m too joyful but yet too sad.
