Amir Khan’s version of the critically-acclaimed Forrest Gump was the most anticipated picture of the year. Despite the effort put into creating the movie, it was unable to garner the necessary numbers at the box office. Aamir Khan has declared his hiatus from acting due to the failure, claiming the need to spend more time with his family as his justification. However, the actor will appear in Salaam Venky, the forthcoming film directed by Revathy.
Aamir Khan made it plain on Wednesday that he will not appear in any movies for at least a year as he walked down the red carpet at Salaam Venky’s premiere. He stated, ” I am not doing anything. From the last many years, I have been working continuously so right now I want to spend some time with my family.
Paani foundation ka bhi kaam chal rha hai, aur bhi thoda kaam chal rha hai, so I will come back to acting after a year. You can see me in this small role.”
Speaking about Salaam Venky, Aamir Khan remarked, “Every artist has done such a terrific job Kajol and Vishal. Each and every actor has done so brilliantly. I am very happy and proud to be part of this film.I am glad Revathy gave me that opportunity.”
While announcing his sabbatical, Aamir Khan had stated before, “I believe I have been working for 35 years and I have single-mindedly been focused on my job. I believe that it’s not fair to individuals who are close to me. This is the moment I feel I have to take some time off to be with kids, and genuinely experience life in a different manner. I am looking forward to the next year, year-and-a-half in which I am not working as an actor.”
Meanwhile, Salaam Venky would narrate the narrative of a youngster with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and his closeness with his mother. Apart from Kajol and Vishal Jethwa in important parts, the film will also star Rahul Bose, Rajeev Khandelwal, Prakash Raj, Kamal Sadanah and Aahana Kumra.
