Uk’s Gatwick:- As per the announcement of Unite, the trade union 950 employees will be doing eight days strike in upcoming days due to dispute regarding wages.
As a result of this , flight cancellations and disruptions will be there which is the point of concern shown by Unite trade union. EasyJet has already cancelled 1700 flights due to air traffic control issues in Europe. Because of air traffic control issues the airline has decided to cancel 1700 flights. This all will affect the flights from Gatwick Airport in London. All this is supposed to happen till July and August.
At Heathrow Airport , they called off their strike which was previously planned for 31 days. They decided to shut down the idea of strike after meeting where 2000 staff members accepted their offer and increase their salary from 15.5% to 17.5 %.
At Birmingham Airport, Strikes will continue in action from July 18 by officers and technicians .
4410 flights are delayed to depart from UK’s Gatwick
On the strike-affected days, 4410 flights are delayed to depart from Gatwick. After labour shortages in 2022 , this summer of 2023 is again raising fears of difficulties. The news of strikes and disputes are disturbing the schedules and control issues.
Unite’s general secretary, Sharon Graham said. Our members at Gatwick airport undertake incredibly demanding roles and are essential to keeping the airport and airlines working. Yet their employers somehow think it is acceptable to pay them a pittance.
As part of Unite’s unyielding focus on the jobs, pay and the condition of its members. The union has drawn a line in the sand and is committed to eradicating the scourge of low pay at the airport”.
Unite said the airlines affected by these strikes included British Airways, EasyJet , Ryanair, Tui , WestJet and Wizz. Gatwick spokesperson said that We are aware of recent ballot result and will support our airlines with their contingency plans to ensure that flights operate as scheduled.
In recent days , Gatwick has disturbed by air traffic control issues. Europeans are on alert over worries about air traffic control issues .Airlines also faced big compensation bill due to all this
