Top releases of Netflix
Netflix releases four global Top 10 lists for movies and TV shows every Tuesday: Movies (English), TV (English), Movies (Non-English), and Movies (Non-English). These lists order books based on the number of “views” they received from Monday through Sunday of the previous week. Views are calculated by dividing the total hours seen by the total runtime for a given title. Rounded numbers are 100,000.
Netflix considers each season of a series and each film on their own, so you might see both Stranger Things seasons 2 and 3 in the Top 10. Because titles sometimes move in and out of the Top 10, we also show the total number of weeks that a season of a series or film has spent on the list.
To give you a sense of what people are watching around the world, Netflix also publishes Top 10 lists for nearly 100 countries and territories (the same locations where there are Top 10 rows on Netflix). Country lists are also ranked by views.
Finally, Netflix provides a list of the Top 10 most popular Netflix films and TV overall (branded Netflix in any country) in each of the four categories based on the views of each title in its first 91 days.
Some television programs have many launch dates, whether they air weekly or in segments, and as a result, their duration lengthens with time. Netflix calculates the views for the weekly lists by dividing the total duration at the end of the week by the number of hours seen throughout the course of the week. The Most Popular List on Netflix displays the season’s total views once all episodes have debuted. Netflix continue to include all of the hours seen for films that are labelled as Netflix in certain nations but not in others.
