Vikram Kirloskar was a well known face of the industry not only in India but also worldwide. The heart clenching news was reported on Tuesday when the Vice Chairman of Toyota Kirloskar Motor passed away at the age of 64.
Reports say that he was admitted to the hospital in a bolting manner to the Manipal Hospital which is located on the Airport road in Bangalore. He endured a heart attack in the early morning.
Toyota gave a statement where they shared their grief on the untimely demise of Vikram S. Kirloskar on 29 November. They appealed to everyone to pray that his soul rests in peace. They also added their deepest condolences to Vikram Kirloskar’s family and friends. Kirloskar’s wife Geetanjali and his daughter Manasi are left behind. The Kirloskar group was established in 1888 which manufactures various machine parts such as pumps, engines, compressors and much more. Vikram Kirloskar was the fourth generation member.
Vikram Kirloskar graduated from MIT as a mechanical engineer. He was appointed as the vice chairman at the Toyota Kirloskar Motor group which was then headquartered in Bangalore. He has held the same position since 1998.
He was in charge of the joint partnership venture which they had with Toyota Group. And thus founded the major automobile manufacturing industry in the whole state.
He was also the president of CII throughout 2019 and 2020. And was then the chairman of the council of CII Manufacturers.
Kirloskar Group was actually a multi-industry company which had its first headquarters in Pune situated in Maharashtra. The lead-ship and holdings of the company was with Kirloskar Brothers Ltd which was entrenched in 1888. It is known to be India’s largest and foremost manufacturer of pumps and valves.
He was the man who escorted Toyota to India. Hence the credit for ushering the Toyota’s business goes mainly to him.
