Fox News’ Laura Ingraham abruptly ended an interview on her show with activist and author Steve Almond after he called out the station for fear mongering and other controversial issues.
Almond, the author of “Against Football: One Fan’s Reluctant Manifesto,” joined on Ingraham’s show on Wednesday to talk about Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin’s cardiac collapse earlier this week.
In his book, he explains why he no longer watches the game he once adored, citing violence, prejudice, and mounting evidence of brain impairments sustained by players.
When Ingraham asked Almond about the NFL and player safety, Almond used the opportunity to bash her and Fox News.
“I know you’re focused on the players, but I’m focused on the fans, and what I ultimately think is that no government ban, and definitely no legendary woke mob that you stated to terrify your viewers, can make football safer,” he remarked during the episode.
Ingraham then interrupted Almond and began speaking over him, saying, “I’m not trying to terrify my audience, football isn’t about politics.”
“Oh, I believe that’s your entire economic paradigm,” Almond retorted. “Your whole business strategy revolves around frightening your audience. That is your entire job.”

The presenter then insisted that her guest wanted football to be outlawed. She also mentioned additional methods to make sports safer, citing baseball and lacrosse as examples.
“You appear to believe that football has a history of racism and a celebration… of violence,” she continued. “What I’m saying is, I’m not sure what type of fan base you’ll have, but they don’t applaud violence; they’re there to enjoy the game.”
