The much-anticipated film Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, has been dogged by controversy from the release of its first song, Besharam Rang. There have been requests to boycott the film due to the composition by Vishal-Sheykhar.
Many BJP leaders have criticised Deepika’s orange bikini in the blockbuster track, citing the saffron color’s communal implications. Shah Rukh and Deepika’s hot chemistry has also been branded as ‘vulgar’ by several people.
After multiple celebrities such as Swara Bhaskar, Asha Parekh, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Ratna Pathak Shah have slammed these boycott calls, now Urfi Javed has defended Pathaan in her own style as she put out a reel showing her sexy moves to Besharam Rang in a saffron cut-out dress on her Instagram.
Netizens are labelling the actress an attention seeker and insulting her in the comments section with the hashtag #BoycottUrfiJaved.
Returning to Pathaan, the Siddharth Anand actioner is due to hit theatres on January 25 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The film, which opens a day before India’s 74th Republic Day, will have a five-day weekend to make a solid first impression at the box office. The film’s trailer will be released on January 10.
Salman Khan will also make an appearance as the secret agent Tiger in the flick. The high-octane actioner is also said to star Hrithik Roshan in a post-credit sequence that establishes Yash Raj Films’ espionage universe by uniting the core characters from Pathaan, Tiger, and War.
