BOSE-An Inspiration
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was born on January 23, 1897, into a privileged household in Cuttack, Odisha Division, Bengal Province. His parents were Janakinath Bose and Prabhavati Bose. He used to be a very bright and obedient student. He pursued his bachelor’s in philosophy from the Presidency College in Kolkata. Being an early recipient of an Anglocentric education, he was sent to England to appear for the Civil Services Examination. He again succeeded ranking fourth overall and scoring the highest marks in English.
After resigning from the Indian Civil Service, Bose started a newspaper named Swaraj. He even worked as an editor for a newspaper named Forward. It was in 1923 when Subhash was elected as the President of the All-India Youth Congress Committee. In 1942, he formed the Indian National Army (INA) in Southeast Asia.
Netaji-An Esteemed Leader
People call him “Netaji” because he led the Indian National Army (INA), named the Azad Hind Fauj. The officials of India and Germany gave him this title at the Special Bureau of India in Berlin.
The popular statement, “Give me blood and I’ll give you freedom,” gives an idea of the leadership quality he possessed.
